And it's not too late to donate more books. Used books are collected all year round for the Child-to-Child Book Ministry, but for the Christmas project, please bring new books, or truly 'like-new'.

Upcoming Events

An Advent Quiet Day, Saturday

December 14, 8:30 - 12:30
Come and prepare for Christmas with a few hours of quiet prayer, and several meditations on the theme, The Light Shines in the Darkness, led bythe Rev. Hugh James, rector of Christ Church Norwich. Fr. James grew up in Wales, where he was ordained in 1981. Christ Church is his first assignment in the United States, though he spent 6 months in Connecticut as an exchange student at the Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor. In Wales he was a founding member of St. David's Diocesan College of Spiritual Directors, and served as the Diocesan Spiritual Director of the Cursillo movement for 7 years.

BLUE CHRISTMAS SERVICE
Friday, December 20 at 7pm

Are you looking forward to Christmas this year? Do you know anyone who is avoiding the festivities, or unsuccessfully trying to 'put on a happy face'? Could that be you? Our second 'Blue Christmas' service, will offer an atmosphere of quiet acceptance, and a message of hope - that the Christ Child came to touch our darkness with light. There will be appropriate music, scripture and prayer, and an opportunity to receive laying on of hands for healing. Please come, and invite others. Light refreshments will be served after the service.

Church Decorating and Ugly Christmas Sweater Party
Come one, come all, to the church decorating party! After church services on December 22, we can "Haul out the Holly" and the poinsettias, and the crèche and make our church the most beautiful ever for Christmas Eve and the Christmas season! (Yes, for the church, that season doesn't begin till Christmas Eve!) Supervised children and adults of all ages can help - but all of us defer to members of the ALTAR GUILD when they offer a 'suggestion'. To add to the fun, (and so you won't be overdressed for the decorating job) WeCare is asking people to wear their very best "Ugly Christmas Sweater" to church that day, so drag out those ghostly (ghastly?) sweaters (or sweatshirts) of Christmas past and we'll all have a good laugh. Do NOT - repeat, DO NOT - go out and BUY an ugly sweater! Donate that money to a worthy cause, and uglify a pretty sweater with stickers or ugly Christmas jewelry or something. When the decorating is done (or well underway) WeCare promises delectable refreshments (read PIE SOCIAL) for everyone.   How can you resist? See you there about 11:15 on December 22.
